This is one interesting website that I came across today, I guess we all face such a situation especially when deciding upon a gift for someone be it mom, dad, brother, sister, niece, nephew, a friend or at office , a wedding gift and so on. When really confused, we seek others’ advice which quite helps at times if not always.. I have even discussed this a couple of times when my friend asked me to suggest a gift for his father and then when another wanted to purchase a gift for her sister. Well I think this would work good for people to choose their choice of gift .
Reconnecting with Batchmates and friends and making of new friends via Social Networking.
Don’t you think its nice connecting back to old friends from schools and colleges?
I think it’s a “YES” for most of us. From my experience I would like to share some extracts here, it has so happened that in search of one’s life with career and other settlements of life, we tend to leave behind our days of joy and our friendship. It is quite annoying though! But it is true. And time comes when we go back to the world full of joy, excitement and fun with less of responsibility; except for studies! The time is now to get back my old friends and I succeeded in getting back many if not all. I give full credit to the social network sites like Facebook, Orkut, Linkedin and not to forget Batchmates.com. I was amazed when I got back my friends who I left behind 25 years back and we have not been in touch for so many years… This new age of science and information technology has made things possible for people to reach every nook and corner of this world even while sitting at one place. One fine day I was searching for one of my classmate and friend who I studied with from std III to std VIII, I searched in www.batchmates.com where we can find details according to school/college/university/work etc. But I couldn’t,so I just gave the name in the message board perhaps and the following day I got a message surprisingly from another guy giving me the cell number of my friend Raj(name changed). I called up immediately to check and yes, I found my friend at last. Its surprising indeed and happiness too that we are able to make it possible over this so called virtual world. Interestingly, I have another one to share with you all here……I studied at one of the St.Joseph’s School for just one year, since my dad was in a job that was transferable in that one year which is now about 26 years back…I left behind few friends I made.The change in schools gave me the opportunity to come across and make new friends.This is also a very recent one, I searched for a friend this time a girl….and to my good luck I got her name along with contact numbers. I sent across an sms to her asking if it was “Swaym(name changed) and good God it was her only ..she replied back “yes”….thanks to www.pipl.com. Not to forget mentioning Facebook.com, this along with the old friends has given many new friends as well. On one hand it can be good going, refreshing old memories when we are connecting to them and only when each one recognizes the other while on the other hand it may so happen that in search of getting connected to old buddies on the retrospect may not recognize????

Social media has opened up a platform of friends and people with common interests becoming friends and well then you follow people and people follow you. The more number of followers the more one is reached. So. that counts the presence of the person in the social media and the impact that he or she makes on other people the reason they been followers. Thats the positive aspect when the good things makes an impact. These days the most commonly used social medias are Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and also WhatsApp that has a direct telephone connection medium app where the one on one connectivity continues so as to form a group. The choice is individual's and their priority.
Facebook is an open platform which also has a messaging system. The followers in facebook has an option whether to follow someone or not. Friend request from known is readily accepted while those from unknown not considered a good choice of action.But sometime the unknown friend becomes a very good friend.
Well, so far from the beginning of the age of social network and getting started off with their uses. The usage of technology is ever expanding and its developing day by day. Over the years the usage of social medias like facebook, twitter, instagram has increased. And instant messaging systems like whatsapp has almost taken over the sms and the messanger. Social media platforms has been the mode of reaching people and communicating through pictures, posts and comments. Being an open platform the users are likely to get interacted on a wider spectrum. Users are able to portray their talents across these platforms in the form of music, arts, crafts, paintings.
While I write this blog, my focus is around friends old and new who have been able to make it to these social media platforms and instant messaging thereby staying in touch with one another and exchanging messages, showcasing one another talents in the form of music, paintings, art and craft, poems, cooking,writing.
Common man vis-à-vis Technology .
With technology making a close impact over the common man, one cannot escape the speed at which manufacturers of Mobile phones flow the various ranges to the market, thus increasing the competitive spirit of the so called companies and the manufacturers. Each day new technologies arrive and it’s a tough time for the users to upgrade themselves with the latest technologies. The mobile phones have reached every nook and corner of the world and to almost every home and at the so called every level and standards of living. No wonder, internet access has similarly made life so simple and accessible to the common man as well. With the click of a key you reach the whole world. What else does one want, while sitting at home, one is accessible to the work sphere and more of it to the world around you.
Academic Education to office work, business, management, every areas internet has firmly taken its place. People have become internet savvy, for those who have no knowledge in computers are considered to be illiterate in this age of computers and internet. People prefer to check their bank accounts at home on the net rather than going to the respective banks for an update. Payment of various products and services are done online through credit cards and other cards so that makes life all the more easier. There is the new trend of e-learning system which is bringing education closer to the home.
And to add to this mobile usage or any gadgets is no longer a matter of pride, rather it has become a necessity for every human being. People talk of brands in terms of clothing and models, companies in terms of technologies, and even for vehicles. Today, a child of age around 5 knows the features of a mobile phone, and its usage. Well in this age we see the geniuses and children achieving success as early as they begin their schools! Be it in dance, music, acting, sports, etc. What should we say is it the exposure to the television, internet, technology, books, opportunities to participate in various competition, or the acceptability to the very mode of the changes and development in every aspect of the world around.
I consider myself unlucky because we were not exposed to the rate at which children of this age have been. Well the advantages are many so also the disadvantages. Books in the real sense are loosing on to the internet, the post offices have tried to go at par with the internet in introducing e-post and the electronic services. While an email reaches instantly within seconds, a letter through post takes at least 3 days through speed post and the normal post reaches much later and sometimes we see the post missing and it never reaches us. That quite upsets and so is the internet reaching every nook and corner of the world to make it possible for the common man to be able to catch up with one another much sooner.
Childrens access to internet is taking most of their time from studies and even exposing them to both the good and the bad. So also the televisions which has programs attracting the young and the old. Thus, the parents should play a major role in such a control. No doubt its much of help in projects and other gaining of knowledge but at the same time it had an impact affecting them. If mobile handsets are are considered only for keeping in contact and during emergency calls or

Smartphones are called so because of their ability to manage and transmit data in addition to voice calls. That has an advance computing capability.
While there are numerous manufacturing companies now a days. With various ranges of mobile phone available in the market at a cost ranging that varies as per the features and the version and the like. With the demand for mobile usage growing day by day there are mobiles available for everyone's requirements.
The pandemic has changed things towards more useful in terms of academically as well as officials because the classes from home and work from home took the toll and smartphones, laptops,notebooks became all the more handy. The quality of education has improved and technology has reached every nook and corner of the world.
An android phone is a powerful, high-tech smartphone that runs on the Android OS which is developed by Google and is used by a number of mobile manufacturers.
With the advent of OTT, over the top services or platforms that is streamed mainly through internet. The netflix, amazon prime etc., even the television series are shifting amongst viewers who prefer the same as per their suitable time.
To add to these are the smart watches, smart home appliances with smart operating systems.The smart bulbs at home which illuminates when one enters and is off when one os away from the region. Bulbs controlled by cell phones changing colours. Even remote controls with new technology these things have made life easier but at the same time everything on a click of a button has made human lethargic.
Outdoor activities need to be given more importance because the cellphone/iphone/ipads has taken over. Gradually, the switch over to outdoor activities and games is being encouraged and children, teenagers and adults age enjoying it.
No doubt technology remains a integral part in one's life but the beauty of Nature and the environment are well captured now.
Every individual can now make reels, videos and capture the best they can with their very own mobiles but then againthere has to be a limit to everything and the accessibility to children be restricted with supervision and guidance.
